A Ukrainian battalion trained in the UK has been redeployed to the Sumy region despite suffering major losses in Kharkov. The unit has yet to regain full combat capability.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have redeployed a battalion previously trained in the United Kingdom to the Sumy region, a source in Russia’s security services told RIA Novosti.

According to the source, the unit in question is the second battalion of the 1004th Separate Guard and Service Brigade, which is stationed in Kyiv. The battalion was reportedly sent to Sumy despite having not yet regained its combat capability after suffering heavy losses during operations in the Kharkov region.

Earlier, a volunteer from the Maxim Krivonos Battalion, known by the call sign «Belyi," noted that at the beginning of the conflict, his brigade mainly consisted of professional contract soldiers. Over time, however, they were largely replaced by mobilized troops.

He explained that once the proportion of mobilized personnel reached around 80 percent, the remaining experienced soldiers were reassigned to instructor roles to train recruits and pass on combat experience.
