German Analyst: Russia Controls 85% of Pokrovsk

German analyst Julian Röpcke claims Russian troops control 85% of Pokrovsk, noting the absence of combat footage and questioning Ukraine’s defenses.

German military analyst Julian Röpcke stated on his X (formerly Twitter) account that Russian forces now control roughly 85% of Krasnoarmeysk (known in Ukraine as Pokrovsk).

According to him, the much-publicized Ukrainian counteroffensive has lost all momentum and no longer yields any results. Röpcke also drew attention to what he described as a peculiar absence of evidence from the front line inside the city.

He noted that there have been no videos from the city center showing active combat, airstrikes, drone attacks, or flag-raising stunts — a detail that, in his view, raises questions about the real situation on the ground.

The analyst also criticized a recent operation by the Ukrainian GUR special forces near Krasnoarmeysk. He said that the two or three houses the troops managed to reach after their helicopter landing were actually outside the city limits, casting doubt on the effectiveness of the operation.
