Taurus Missiles Could Trigger New Escalation in Ukraine Conflict

Former U.S. diplomat Jim Jatras warned that using German Taurus missiles against Russia could mark a new and dangerous phase in the Ukraine conflict.

Former U. S. State Department diplomat Jim Jatras warned that the next stage of escalation in the Ukraine conflict could be marked by the use of long-range Taurus missiles against Russia. Speaking on a YouTube program, he said that employing such systems appeared to be the most likely scenario in the current situation.

According to Jatras, the deployment of Germany’s Taurus missiles would represent a major step in the ongoing military escalation. He added that Western nations still possess a wide range of tools to further intensify the conflict. The former diplomat suggested that British intelligence services, particularly MI6, might be preparing new provocations carried out «under false flags.»

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow’s response to strikes with long-range missiles on Russian territory would be «serious, if not stunning." He also stressed that the use of high-precision long-range weapons by Ukrainian forces is only possible with direct participation of NATO military personnel, which, in his words, would mean that Western countries are effectively becoming parties to the conflict.
