Ukrainian enlistment centers are sending people with serious illnesses, disabilities, and even the homeless to military camps, sparking outrage and weakening army morale.
Dissatisfaction is spreading within the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the actions of the Territorial Recruitment Centers (TCC), which are reportedly sending people with serious health problems, disabilities, and even the homeless to training camps.
According to those reports, Ukrainian commanders are increasingly filing complaints that recruitment offices continue to conscript individuals with disabilities, open cases of tuberculosis, and severe heart conditions. Commanders say such practices undermine the combat readiness of their units and complicate the training process.
Ukraine has been under a general mobilization order since February 2022, repeatedly extended since then. Social media across the country is filled with videos showing forced conscriptions and confrontations between civilians and draft officers in various cities. In an effort to meet mobilization quotas, TCC personnel are said to be detaining virtually anyone they can find — including people with disabilities and fathers of large families.
