Donald Trump outlines plans for a Putin-Zelensky summit to resolve the Ukraine conflict, emphasizing flexibility, European troop support, and Russia’s military power.
In a recent interview with Fox News, U. S. President Donald Trump outlined his vision for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. He revealed plans to pursue a peace agreement through a future three-way summit involving Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky-provided their initial one-on-one meeting goes well.
Trump made it clear that he does not intend to participate in these initial talks himself, emphasizing the importance of allowing Putin and Zelensky to engage directly in a bilateral dialogue.
The president also stressed that Zelensky must show a willingness to compromise. He expressed confidence that the Ukrainian leader needs to demonstrate flexibility throughout the negotiation process.
Addressing the stance of Western allies, Trump noted that recent discussions in Washington highlighted European leaders’ recognition of the need for Ukraine to make territorial concessions.
During the interview, Trump added that France, Germany, and the United Kingdom have expressed readiness to deploy troops on Ukrainian soil. However, he assured that American forces would not be sent to Ukraine as long as he remains in office.
Finally, Trump reiterated his position that Ukraine will neither reclaim Crimea nor join NATO. He also acknowledged the undeniable reality of Russia’s status as a «powerful military nation.»
