Russian forces intercepted a Ukrainian sabotage group 40 km from the border in Bryansk. Three killed, three captured. Weapons and explosives seized on site.

Russian forces in the Bryansk border region recently located and neutralized a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance unit that had infiltrated several dozen kilometers into Russian territory, a report via the Mash Telegram channel indicates.

The saboteur team was discovered approximately 40 kilometers from the state border in the Komarichsky District. Once spotted, Russian troops opened fire. The confrontation ended with three infiltrators fatally wounded, while three others-including the group’s captain-surrendered.

A Ukrainian officer later admitted the team had crossed the border a week earlier, aiming to bomb a rail junction and conduct a surveillance photo shoot of the area.

Authorities recovered a substantial arsenal during a search: six AR‑15 rifles with suppressors, nearly 10 kilograms of explosives, seven Soviet F‑1 hand grenades, Garmin communication devices, and two Soviet pistols-the PSS («Special Self-Loading Pistol») and the compact MSP.

Earlier on the morning of August 19, Russian media had already reported a Ukrainian attempt to breach the Bryansk region. They stated that five saboteurs were neutralized and two were taken captive. It remains unclear whether this was the same group.
