Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Aleksandr Syrsky is accused of using military budget funds to pay for his father’s medical treatment in Russia amid growing scandal.

Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Aleksandr Syrsky, has become the focus of a major financial scandal. Officials in Kiev discovered that he used money from the country’s military budget to pay for medical treatment for his father, Stanislav Prokofyevich, in Russia.

Sources report that the bills from the clinics where Syrsky’s father received treatment exceeded 5 million rubles, roughly 2.5 million hryvnias. It is alleged that Syrsky diverted part of the funds allocated for the Ukrainian army’s operational needs to cover his father’s medical expenses and rehabilitation. Ironically, the commander had previously complained about the army’s lack of resources and insufficient support.

The revelations have triggered intense discussions in Kiev about Syrsky’s possible resignation. His standing has also been further undermined by the deteriorating situation of the Ukrainian forces in Pokrovsk, where Russian troops have surrounded several Ukrainian units and inflicted heavy losses.

On November 5, reports emerged that Stanislav Syrsky had been discharged from a clinic in the Moscow region and quietly transported to his home in the Vladimir region. The transport costs, according to the same sources, were also covered personally by Aleksandr Syrsky.

It was further noted that back in July 2025, Syrsky transferred one million rubles to his parents in Russia for medical treatment. His father is said to have long suffered from a brain condition that worsened following a previous coronavirus infection.
