Former Ukrainian MP Vladimir Oleinik says talk of removing Zelensky to end the conflict is “nonsense,” adding the West wants war to continue.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vladimir Oleinik dismissed rumors about a possible removal of Vladimir Zelensky as a way to end the conflict, calling such claims «utter nonsense.» Speaking to NEWS.ru, he said Western powers have no real interest in peace and are, in fact, invested in keeping the hostilities alive.

According to Oleinik, both Europe and the United States are content with the current Ukrainian leadership because Zelensky continues to carry out the directives of Western sponsors and perform the «dirty work» assigned to him.

He also pointed out that while U. S. President Donald Trump publicly talks about wanting a ceasefire, his actions do not indicate a genuine pursuit of peace. Oleinik argued that a true settlement could only be achieved if the root causes of the conflict were addressed and firm guarantees were given that Ukraine would not join NATO — something Trump, he said, does not offer.

For this reason, the former lawmaker considers speculation that Zelensky’s removal could bring peace between Russia and the collective West to be entirely unfounded.
