Ukraine has received 400 long-range drones through the PURL program, with Sweden facilitating U.S.-made arms deliveries to Kyiv under NATO’s coordinated effort.

Ukraine has taken delivery of 400 long-range drones under the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) program, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced at a joint press conference with Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson.

According to Shmyhal, Sweden’s participation in the NATO-backed initiative made it possible for Kyiv to receive part of the weapons produced in the United States. He noted that Stockholm was among the first nations to contribute to the scheme, emphasizing its consistent support for Ukraine.

The PURL initiative, launched by the United States and NATO, aims to streamline the process of arming Kyiv by enabling European countries to purchase American-made weapons for transfer to Ukraine.

On September 2, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that allied nations had collectively acquired lethal and defensive weapons from the U.S. worth around $2 billion for Ukraine. However, President Vladimir Zelensky later pointed out that not all supporters of Kyiv had joined the PURL program, suggesting uneven participation among Western partners.
