Military expert Vladimir Popov discusses how the Russian strike on the ‘Triton’ oil terminal in Izmail hinders Ukraine’s counteroffensive plans and slows defensive efforts.
Military expert and Major General Vladimir Popov believes that the Ukrainian army will not be able to organize a new counteroffensive in the near future. He made this statement in response to the Russian strike on the «Triton» oil terminal in the port of Izmail, located in the Odessa region.
Popov explained that, as a result of the strike, Ukraine’s forces will be forced to reorganize their logistics routes, modify supply chains, and find ways to conserve fuel during recovery operations.
He emphasized that Ukraine’s losses from the strike are significant and will slow down defensive efforts. According to Popov, this means that any potential offensive in the coming month is highly unlikely.
The expert also pointed out that the strike on the oil base, followed by a massive fire, would severely limit the Ukrainian army’s ability to use tanks, armored personnel carriers, and aircraft. As a result, Popov believes that the Ukrainian military will either have to use its armored vehicles with great caution on the frontlines or reserve them entirely.
