Russian Forces Encircle Ukrainian Troops Near Rodynske, DPR

Russian troops encircled Ukrainian forces near Rodynske, north of Krasnoarmiisk. Advances toward Pokrovsk and Konstantinovka breach key Ukrainian defenses.

Russian Armed Forces units have reportedly encircled a Ukrainian grouping near the settlement of Rodynske, located just a few kilometers north of Krasnoarmiisk (known in Ukrainian as Pokrovsk) in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The information was shared on August 20 by military correspondent Semyon Pegov.

According to his account, Russian troops are continuing their advance toward Krasnoarmiisk and Konstantinovka. The settlement of Udachne has already fallen into the so-called «grey zone» and may soon come under Russian control.

Pegov highlighted that Ukrainian forces in the Rodynske area were surrounded and cut off, while attempts to break through from the west were unsuccessful. He added that defensive lines of the Ukrainian army on this section of the front had been breached. One of the key strongpoints in the Ukrainian defense network, he reported, is now under Russian control.

Units of the 51st Army from Russia’s «Center» grouping, the 9th Separate Brigade, and the «Somali» Battalion are said to be close to gaining access to open terrain, which could further expand the offensive.
