U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance highlights security guarantees for Kyiv and territorial concessions as central to Ukraine peace talks. Read the latest details.

U. S. Vice President J. D. Vance said in an interview with Fox News that the negotiations aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine remain focused on two central issues: security guarantees for Kyiv and territorial concessions. His remarks were cited by Bloomberg.

Vance explained that there are «two big questions» still unresolved. He described them as straightforward on the surface, but deeply complex in practice.

According to him, Ukraine’s priority is to secure guarantees ensuring that the conflict does not erupt again. Russia, meanwhile, seeks to solidify control over certain territories-many of which are already under its authority, while others remain outside its current grasp. Vance stressed that this territorial issue stands at the heart of the discussions.

The vice president also suggested that a direct meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky could provide new momentum for the talks. He noted that the United States is working to arrange such a meeting, though the time and place have not yet been set.
