Ukrainian troops have adopted a new tactic on the Zaporozhye front—dropping banknotes with QR codes from drones to locate Russian soldiers.
On the Zaporozhye front, units of Russia’s «Vostok» group are encountering new and unconventional tactics from Ukrainian forces. According to a company commander known by the call sign «Fizruk,» Ukrainian troops have begun dropping banknotes with printed QR codes from drones.
The officer explained that the tactic is designed to lure soldiers into scanning the codes with their smartphones. Once a phone connects, the enemy instantly detects its coordinates and launches a strike using FPV drones, artillery, or mortars.
He noted that even a brief scan is enough to compromise a position, as the system automatically transmits the phone’s location data to Ukrainian targeting units.
Military expert Yulian Repke previously stated that Ukrainian forces are no longer able to effectively resist Russian advances in the Zaporozhye region. He pointed out that Ukrainian defenses in the eastern part of the area have effectively collapsed after Russian troops captured the settlement of Uspenovka.
