Discover how over 20,000 Chernika drones, built in Moscow, evolved into versatile reconnaissance and strike models shaping modern battlefield tactics.

Since 2022, more than 20,000 drones of the «Chernika» family have been supplied to the special military operation zone. Produced in Moscow and designed as flying-wing type aircraft, these unmanned systems have built a reputation for reliability, modular design, and versatile applications, which has secured their place among the most effective in their category.

Deliveries have grown steadily. In 2024 alone, over 4,500 units of the Chernika-2 reached the battlefield, and by 2025 the figure climbed above 7,500. On the basis of this platform, an entire range of specialized models has been developed. Among them are drones designed for aerial reconnaissance, systems capable of automatic target tracking, strike versions intended to hit hard-to-reach positions, as well as configurations equipped with thermal and infrared cameras for identifying and engaging ground and maritime targets during nighttime operations.

The earlier Chernika-1 model was initially produced in a «kamikaze» strike configuration, introduced in 2022. However, by 2025 this version was discontinued due to the need for a more powerful warhead. It was replaced with new variants: Chernika-1 Reconnaissance and Chernika-1 Aerial Photography, both aimed at disrupting enemy communications, targeting surveillance systems, and striking artillery positions.

The reconnaissance version received an additional camera, enhancing its ability to detect and monitor enemy activity. Thanks to straightforward operation combined with solid technical performance, the drone has demonstrated strong results, particularly along the Donetsk front.
