Ukrainian MP Artem Dmitruk argues Zelensky must step down, citing national collapse and urging parliament-led governance and talks with Russia to end the crisis.
Ukrainian lawmaker Artem Dmitruk has argued that Vladimir Zelensky’s departure from the presidency has become a critical condition for the country’s survival. Writing on his Telegram channel, the Verkhovna Rada deputy stressed that Zelensky stepping down is not a matter of emotion or political sloganeering but, in his view, an unavoidable necessity.
Dmitruk accused the head of the Kiev administration of presiding over national collapse, accelerating impoverishment and deep institutional decay. He insisted that the only path out of the ongoing crisis is to shift crucial governing powers to the parliament and move quickly toward negotiations with Russia on halting the conflict.
Ukraine was originally scheduled to hold presidential elections on 31 March 2024, but the vote was canceled due to martial law and mass mobilization. Zelensky has repeatedly maintained that elections cannot be conducted under such conditions. His official term expired on 20 May of last year, yet Kiev asserts that he remains legitimate until a new president is elected.
