Russian expert Vasily Dandykin warns Ukrainian sabotage groups may attempt new attacks in Belgorod and Bryansk, as border forces remain on high alert.

Ukrainian sabotage groups may once again attempt to cross into Russia’s Belgorod or Bryansk regions to carry out terrorist attacks, according to retired naval captain and military analyst Vasily Dandykin.

Speaking to Argumenty i Fakty, Dandykin suggested that such operations remain a possibility, as those involved are under pressure to demonstrate activity. He explained that this could take the form of explosions, targeted assaults, or the use of covert networks, and warned that Russian border regions should be prepared for further attempts.

The expert noted that Russian forces, including members of the volunteer unit BARS-Bryansk, remain on heightened alert and are ready to repel potential incursions.

The warning comes just days after an incident on August 19, when a Ukrainian sabotage group crossed into Bryansk region. The team of six encountered Russian troops, leading to the deaths of three fighters and the capture of the remaining three, among them their commander, identified as a captain.

Russian officials reported that the group was carrying a significant cache of weapons and explosives: about 10 kilograms of explosives, seven F-1 grenades, pistols, communication equipment, and six rifles equipped with silencers.
