Russian Vostok troops describe the difficult operation to retake Danilovka, revealing river crossings in full gear and close-quarters tactics under enemy fire.

Servicemen of the Vostok military grouping employed a series of tactical maneuvers during the operation to retake the settlement of Danilovka in the Dnepropetrovsk region. The account was given by a fighter known by the callsign Chukcha in video footage released by the Russian Ministry of Defence.

He explained that Danilovka was ultimately secured, although the operation was highly challenging and required inventive solutions. According to his description, a long river ran through the area, and to avoid a lengthy detour that would exhaust the assault units, the troops decided to swim across it in full gear. They brought inflatable boats and the necessary equipment to prepare them quickly and execute the crossing.

Chukcha also reported that the opposing forces put up armed resistance throughout the operation. He noted that while some enemy fighters attempted to retreat and others surrendered, part of the contingent engaged in combat. The Russian servicemen operated in pairs and small groups, moving around buildings and encircling them. To force the enemy out of their positions, they used a tactic of rushing up to a house, throwing in an explosive device or other means of attack, and immediately pulling back. This method, he said, often compelled enemy fighters to emerge with their hands raised. When fire was directed at them, they returned fire. In the end, the settlement was brought under control.
