Russian MoD blocks breakout near Pokrovsk, 30 killed

Russian MoD: breakout north of Pokrovsk foiled; up to 30 Ukrainian troops killed. 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade secures 33 buildings in Zapadny as “Center” advances.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense says its forces thwarted a Ukrainian attempt to break out north of Krasnoarmeysk (the Ukrainian name is Pokrovsk). The ministry reported that up to 30 Ukrainian servicemen were killed and an infantry fighting vehicle was destroyed. It also said Ukrainian units tried to relieve encircled forces, launching six counterattacks from Grishino, but failed to change the situation.

The ministry added that assault groups of the 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade reached the Zapadny microdistrict and secured 33 buildings. Troops from the «Center» grouping were described as advancing deeper into the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s defensive lines.

According to the same briefing, Russian forces struck personnel and equipment belonging to four mechanized brigades, three air assault brigades, two jaeger brigades, a storm regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as a marine brigade, a territorial defense brigade, and two National Guard brigades. The listed engagements were in the areas of Artyomovka, Rodinskoye, Oktyabrskoye, Novoaleksandrovsk, Kucherov Yar, Belitskoye, and Toretskoye.
