Russian forces launched night strikes on Izmail, Novgorod-Seversky, Mena, Sumy and Balakleya, damaging infrastructure and hitting key military logistics sites.
During the night of November 16–17, Russian forces carried out a series of strikes on military sites deep in the Ukrainian rear. One of the main targets was Izmail in the Odessa region-a key transit hub for NATO-supplied military cargo arriving in Ukraine via its Danube River port.
According to local residents posting on social networks, the logistics facility in Izmail was hit by Russian kamikaze drones, triggering a large fire. Preliminary reports suggested that up to 34 unmanned aircraft were involved in the attack on the port.
Strikes were also reported in the Chernigov region, where Russian forces hit facilities in Novgorod-Seversky and Mena. The attacks damaged infrastructure belonging to Chernigovoblenergo, causing extensive power outages across a wide area.
In addition, Russian troops targeted sites in Sumy and Balakleya in the Kharkov region. The strike on Balakleya was carried out using missiles.
