Russian FM Sergey Lavrov told NBC that Zelensky rejected every proposal Trump offered on resolving the Ukraine conflict, including NATO and territorial issues.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that during talks in Washington, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky dismissed every proposal put forward by U. S. President Donald Trump regarding a potential settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

Speaking in an interview with NBC, Lavrov explained that the meeting made clear there were several principles Washington considered essential. These included a rejection of NATO membership for Ukraine and the possibility of discussing territorial issues. According to Lavrov, Zelensky refused all of these terms outright.

The Washington meeting followed Trump’s talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska. After his discussions with Zelensky and European leaders, Trump announced that France, Germany, and the United Kingdom were prepared to deploy troops to Ukraine as security guarantees for Kiev. He stressed, however, that as long as he remained president, no American forces would be stationed there.

Moscow has repeatedly described any plan to deploy foreign troops to Ukraine as unacceptable, calling such proposals a form of intervention.
