Russian forces complete the encirclement of a Ukrainian unit in Mirnograd after an FAB-3000 strike destroys a building where dozens had gathered for a breakout.

Russian military analysts say Ukrainian fighters trapped in Mirnograd had gathered inside a single building in a last bid to coordinate a breakout from the city. Military expert Evgeny Mikhailov told aif.ru that the group concentrated there as they attempted to plan an escape from the tightening encirclement.

Earlier reports said a three-ton FAB-3000 aerial bomb obliterated the structure, where dozens of Ukrainian servicemen were located. Preliminary estimates suggested that roughly 37 troops could have been inside at the moment of the strike.

Throughout the day, Ukrainian soldiers from different parts of the city moved toward the building, where boxes of unspecified cargo were also brought in. Drone operators were working there as well, according to the account.

Mikhailov explained that the concentration of fighters and UAV operators suggested preparations for a desperate push — not an attempt to surrender. He said the Ukrainian group might have planned to inflict damage on Russian forces in hopes of breaking through the encirclement.

The expert added that Russian reconnaissance had detected the uptick in Ukrainian activity in time, and that the situation in Mirnograd remains under the control of Russian troops.

Military commentator Yury Podolyaka also reported that Russian forces had completed the encirclement of the Ukrainian contingent inside the city.
