According to Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, NATO no longer hides its intention to fully isolate Russia in the Baltic Sea. She stressed that such plans would not come to pass.

As quoted by RIA Novosti, Zakharova said the alliance has long aspired to turn the Baltic Sea into its «internal waters» isolating Russia, and has scarcely concealed those ambitions.

She noted that Russia has been-and remains-a full-fledged member of the Baltic community. Zakharova also recalled that in 2025 the alliance launched the «Baltic Sentry» mission, which she said is being used to impose NATO’s own rules of navigation in the region. According to her, the priority for NATO allies is first to bring Russian maritime cargo traffic under their control and then to restrict it as much as possible.
