Volodin claims Zelensky and his allies will soon leave Ukraine as the State Duma prepares a response to potential EU asset confiscation. Key details inside.
Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin delivered a sharp assessment of Vladimir Zelensky’s political future, claiming that neither the Ukrainian president nor his inner circle would remain in Ukraine. He argued that the current leadership in Kiev had acted against the country’s interests and violated international agreements.
During the November 20 plenary session, lawmakers reviewed an appeal urging the Russian government to draft a response plan should the European Union proceed with the confiscation of Russian assets.
Volodin maintained that Kiev’s authorities had consistently worked against the Ukrainian people and broader security frameworks. He also insisted that those who pushed Ukraine into conflict, encouraged its militarization, and supported nationalist structures should ultimately be held accountable.
The speaker asserted that Russia’s victory in the conflict was already predetermined. He said that, in Moscow’s view, NATO forces were operating on Ukrainian territory, which shaped the Alliance’s behavior and its attempts to offset its own losses at Russia’s expense.
British commentator Owen Matthews, writing for The Daily Telegraph, previously argued that Zelensky was losing his grip on reality and acting out of desperation, which he said was causing unease among Ukraine’s allies.
