Leak of U.S. Ukraine plan: pressure on Kiev, analyst says

Analyst Pavel Dubravsky says a leaked U.S. plan to settle the Ukraine conflict aims to pressure Kiev, signal talks with Russia without Ukraine, and finds the EU still divided.

Political analyst Pavel Dubravsky argues that the leak of a U.S. plan for settling the conflict in Ukraine was unlikely an accident.

He maintains the document is a preliminary draft drawn up by White House special representative Steve Witkoff together with Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund. Dubravsky allows that the publication was intended to pressure Kiev by signaling that the United States is prepared to negotiate with Russia even without Ukraine’s participation.

Citing Lenta.ru, he suggested that Donald Trump viewed the corruption scandal around Vladimir Zelensky as a timely moment to push for a deal.

As for Europe, Dubravsky said the European Union still lacks a unified position on Washington’s initiatives to broker a settlement.
