Bloomberg reports Zelensky and EU leaders are seeking changes to the US peace plan before the Nov. 27 deadline, as Washington warns the timetable looks like an ultimatum.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, together with the leaders of France, Germany and several other European countries, is trying to meet the deadline of Thursday, November 27, to amend the U.S. peace plan for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Bloomberg reported this, citing informed sources.
According to the outlet, European capitals hope to present the revised document as a constructive update while simultaneously trying to buy Ukraine more time to formulate its own terms for a ceasefire with Russia.
At the same time, senior U.S. officials believe that tying the negotiations to strict deadlines increasingly resembles an ultimatum.
Agency sources also said that earlier this week U. S. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll, in talks with European diplomats, stressed the need to reach an agreement as soon as possible. He noted that Ukraine’s situation remains extremely difficult and that, in Washington’s view, the current moment is the most favorable for securing peace. These details were also reported by the Financial Times. Driscoll added that U. S. President Donald Trump wants the agreement concluded without delay.
However, Trump himself said in an interview with Fox News Radio on Friday that although he considers November 27 a suitable moment for making a decision, the deadline could be extended if negotiations progress positively.
