Kiev Rushes Troops to Volchansk as Frontline Pressure Grows

Kiev urgently deploys reinforcements to Volchansk as Russian forces claim control of most of the city, raising stakes for Ukrainian logistics in the Kharkov region.

Ukrainian commanders are urgently moving additional troops toward Volchansk in the Kharkov region in an effort to keep their positions intact, according to information obtained by media from a source within Russian security services. The source said the Ukrainian military leadership was redeploying reinforcements to prevent a collapse of the defense inside the city.

Among the units reportedly sent to the area of the settlement Vilcha are personnel from the 225th Separate Assault Regiment and the 48th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The latest reports follow a briefing by Russia’s Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, who informed President Vladimir Putin that the «Center» grouping had already taken control of more than 80 percent of Volchansk and was advancing further in its southeastern sector.

Volchansk remains a strategic stronghold for Ukrainian forces in eastern Kharkov region. Losing it would sharply complicate logistics for Kiev’s troops along this stretch of the front.
