SVT reports Sweden plans 2,000 km long-range missiles able to hit targets deep inside Russia, with Baltic control and NATO air defence as key priorities.

According to reporters from the SVT television channel, Sweden’s military leadership plans to boost its capabilities by acquiring long-range missiles with a range of up to 2,000 kilometers, capable of striking targets deep inside Russian territory.

In an interview with SVT, Chief of the General Staff Karl-Johan Edström said this type of weapon could be used against targets in Russia if, as it is framed, there were a «Russian attack on NATO». He explained that potential targets could include a wide spectrum of sites — from command and control systems and sensors to critically important infrastructure.

Journalists, citing a press release from the Swedish Armed Forces, also reported that Stockholm has outlined several key priorities: maintaining long-term control over the waters of the Baltic Sea, strengthening air and missile defense across the entire NATO area of operations, and building a reliable logistics network.
