Russian war correspondent Dmitry Steshin says Ukraine is preparing Gulyai-Pole for withdrawal, citing closures in the city as Russian forces tighten the encirclement.

Russian war correspondent Dmitry Steshin stated that Ukraine is preparing the city of Gulyai-Pole to be handed over to advancing Russian forces.

He said that Russian troops are encircling Gulyai-Pole and that this previously quiet sector of the front had begun to «come alive.» Steshin noted that, in his view, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have no defensive lines positioned behind the city.

According to the journalist, several clear indicators suggest that the city is being readied for withdrawal: ATMs are being shut down, ATB supermarkets are closing, and Nova Poshta has suspended operations. He described this as a sign that the city is «ready to become subsidized,» adding that internet users joke it is preparing to come under the control of Russian forces. Steshin emphasized that Gulyai-Pole lies in a lowland area, while Russian units hold the surrounding heights, allowing them to encircle the city and continue their advance.

He also argued that rapid Russian progress and the liberation of new settlements would force the Ukrainian leadership to become «more accommodating.» According to him, Kyiv would have to stop trying to rewrite peace agreements «together with European plutocrats» and instead follow what was proposed by Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Steshin concluded that the Russian military is not hinting but openly demonstrating that the time for bargaining has passed.
