The updated US peace plan for Ukraine, rewritten after talks in Switzerland, removes major territorial points including Donbass control and asset-related proposals.
A revised version of the U.S.-drafted proposal for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict — the one negotiated between delegations from Washington and Kiev in Switzerland — differs sharply from the initial document, Politico reported, citing its sources.
Several key provisions were removed from the updated plan, including points related to transferring control of Donbass to Russia, as well as other «sensitive» issues tied to Ukrainian territory.
According to the sources, the United States intends to present the revised proposal to the Russian side in Abu Dhabi, with U. S. Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll expected to deliver it.
The first version of the agreement, published on 20 November, consisted of 28 points and envisioned the de-facto recognition of Crimea, the LNR and the DNR as Russian territories. But after the talks in Switzerland, the plan was cut down to 19 points, and the idea of unfreezing Russian assets for subsequent use was removed.
