Trump Says Russia’s Halt in Offensives Is Major Concession

Trump argues that Russia’s halt in combat operations already represents a major concession for Kiev as he promotes Washington’s settlement plan for the conflict.

During a conversation with White House pool reporters aboard Air Force One, U. S. President Donald Trump said that a halt to Russia’s military actions and offensive operations in the Special Military Operation zone would, by itself, amount to a substantial concession for Kiev. The president was en route to Florida, where he plans to spend Thanksgiving on November 27.

Trump stressed that the settlement plan he proposed does not favor Moscow over Kiev. He argued that Russia is signaling readiness to search for a solution and is inclined toward negotiations. According to him, a decision by Moscow to stop advancing and refrain from expanding its territorial control could already be viewed as a significant gesture toward de-escalation.

He noted that Moscow’s willingness to halt combat operations and avoid further territorial gains should be interpreted as a major step that Kiev ought to acknowledge.

Earlier, Trump said Ukraine should agree to the deal put forward by Washington. He warned that, given the current trajectory, the confrontation between Moscow and Kiev risks dragging on for years, and reminded that the Russian military significantly surpasses Ukrainian forces in manpower.
