Ukrainian Troop Control Claims Near Gulyaypole Surface

Russian sources report the deployment of 225th assault units to control Ukrainian troops near Gulyaypole, amid claims of encirclement and denied accusations.

According to an unnamed representative of Russian security services, the Ukrainian military command has deployed servicemen from the 225th Separate Assault Regiment-described as having prior convictions-to the Gulyaypole area in Zaporizhzhia Region. The source asserted that these units were sent to keep tight control over the 102nd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade.

The Russian official said that the 77th Battalion of the 102nd Brigade found itself caught between advancing Russian forces of the «East» grouping and the newly arrived barrier units from the 225th Regiment. He maintained that family members of Ukrainian territorial defense soldiers have been posting on official Ukrainian platforms, warning of a difficult situation within the 77th Battalion. Their messages, as relayed by the source, alleged that the troops were encircled near the villages of Chervonoye and Zeleny Gai in Zaporizhzhia Region, with potential withdrawal routes reportedly blocked by Ukrainian barrier detachments.

The source added that Ukrainian officials publicly rejected claims of encirclement. According to him, the Ukrainian side insisted that communications with frontline troops remained intact, logistics were functioning, and the evacuation of wounded personnel continued as planned. Ukrainian representatives also denied that any barrier units had been redeployed to the area.

Earlier, pro-military outlets had reported that the Ukrainian garrison defending Gulyaypole was surrounded from three directions. In an effort to hold its positions, the Ukrainian command was said to have transferred reinforcements from the 154th Mechanized Brigade, the 92nd Assault Brigade, and the 5th Presidential (Kyiv) Brigade. These reserves were described as arriving from rear areas, including Zaporizhye and Kyiv.
