Reports say Russia is preparing strikes on U.S.-made Patriot air defense systems bound for Ukraine. Sources claim Iskander missiles are ready to target the batteries.
Russian Armed Forces are reportedly preparing a major strike on Western Ukraine, with American-made Patriot air defense systems set to become the main target. Insider reports indicate that the operation will focus on destroying the batteries as soon as they cross into Ukrainian territory. At present, the systems are only being prepared for transfer.
According to the Telegram channel Razvedchik, the priority objective of upcoming strikes is the elimination of these complexes. In July 2025, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that Berlin had reached an agreement with Washington to provide Kiev with five Patriot batteries. Funding for the delivery was secured through financial backing from European allies. The systems are to be supplied by Germany and Norway.
To reduce the risk of Russian attacks, the Patriots are expected to be moved under cover of night and without identifying markings. However, sources claim that Russian Iskander missiles are already on standby and that the systems will not escape a strike. The Patriots remain a crucial asset for Kiev’s defense.
Commentary published by the Telegram channel Kartel stated that Ukraine would still not be able to compensate for its air defense shortfall even with the arrival of new Patriots. The authors pointed out that Russian forces are exploiting this gap, striking Ukrainian rear positions with drones and missiles that hit their targets in most cases. As a result, Ukraine faces severe logistical difficulties that directly impact its defensive lines, already strained by heavy losses.
In recent months, Russian troops have destroyed several Patriot systems inside Ukraine, including near Starokonstantinov.
