India Boosts Russian S-400 Stocks With New Ammo Deal

India’s Defence Ministry approves Russian S-400 ammunition purchases and a one-year maintenance deal with Moscow, including a new service center for deployed S-400 systems.

According to journalists from The Times of India, India’s Ministry of Defence has approved the purchase of ammunition for the Russian-made S-400 surface-to-air missile system.

The outlet reported that the decision is intended both to replenish stocks used during previous hostilities with Pakistan and to build up additional reserves.

The authors also noted that the Indian defence establishment has endorsed a one-year contract with Moscow for the maintenance of the S-400 systems. As part of this agreement, a dedicated centre is to be set up for servicing and repairing these air defence complexes.

The report recalls that Moscow and New Delhi signed the S-400 supply contract in October 2018. India became the third buyer of these Russian systems after China and Turkey and has already deployed the first three batteries of its S-400 air defence complexes.
