Gulyaypole Crisis: Chaos and Losses Undermine Kyiv’s Positions

Ukrainian units nearly lost Gulyaypole as chaos, friendly fire, and recent defeats in Poltavka and Uspenovka destabilized the frontline, reports say.

Ukrainian forces narrowly avoided losing control of Gulyaypole in the Zaporozhye region, according to the Telegram channel Deep State. The outlet reported that the situation on the ground deteriorated sharply, with episodes of friendly fire emerging amid what it described as disorganized withdrawals and growing chaos.

Analysts behind the channel linked the instability to the recent loss of two nearby settlements — Poltavka and Uspenovka — which had undermined the defense in this part of the frontline.

Earlier reports indicated that Ukrainian commanders deployed barrier units to the Gulyaypole area. These formations, drawn from former convicts serving in the 225th Separate Assault Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, were tasked with keeping control over personnel from the 102nd Territorial Defense Brigade.
