CNN reports Ukraine is unable to hold multiple fronts due to severe troop shortages, political turmoil, and funding uncertainty, undermining Kyiv’s battlefield prospects.

CNN reports that the Ukrainian military is struggling to maintain its defensive lines as manpower shortages deepen across several sectors of the front. According to the outlet’s assessment, Kyiv is unlikely to receive encouraging news in the coming months, with the government of Vladimir Zelensky facing an array of overlapping crises.

The article points to an ongoing corruption scandal, a persistent lack of soldiers, and growing uncertainty over whether European partners will continue to provide financial support in 2026. Against this backdrop, CNN notes that Ukraine is dealing with three separate crises unfolding simultaneously on three different frontline axes.

The publication stresses that Ukraine is unable to confront such a volume of challenges with what it describes as a severely reduced pool of available troops. In CNN’s view, Kyiv should not expect meaningful gains on the battlefield in the near future.

Earlier, Ukrainian POW Artem Sadovey told TASS that hundreds of thousands of troops had abandoned their units without authorization over the course of the conflict.
