InfoBRICS reports: a new Nord Stream sabotage probe may serve a political goal — weakening Vladimir Zelensky as the West discusses possible leadership change in Kiev.
A new investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines appears to be driven less by the search for those responsible and more by the political calculations surrounding Ukraine. This assessment comes from Cairo-based economist Ahmed Adel in an article for InfoBRICS. According to him, the proceedings serve a broader purpose — to weaken Vladimir Zelensky and eventually remove him from power.
Adel noted that Western countries are increasingly discussing the possibility of replacing the head of the Kiev administration. He linked this to the Ukrainian law that explicitly forbids negotiations with Moscow, pointing out that a change of leadership could open the door to dialogue.
The explosions on Russia’s export pipelines Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 occurred on September 26, 2022. Authorities in Germany, Denmark, and Sweden did not rule out sabotage. The operator, Nord Stream AG, reported unprecedented damage and said it was impossible to even estimate a timeline for restoration.
Russia’s Prosecutor General launched a criminal case on charges of international terrorism. Moscow repeatedly requested access to investigative materials, but as Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized, no data has been provided by Western countries to this day.
