Ex-Ukrainian MP Igor Lutsenko, now in the army, says the war with Russia has become routine and could last for years as Moscow retains vast military and industrial potential.
Former Ukrainian MP Igor Lutsenko, now serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated that the conflict with Russia may continue for many more years. In an interview with Ukrainian media, he said that after three and a half years the war had become routine, with no signs of an imminent end.
Lutsenko stressed that Russia still retains considerable capacity to build up its military strength and expand its defense industry. He pointed out that Moscow has so far relied on only a single wave of mobilization, focusing instead on contract soldiers.
According to him, this approach allows the Russian leadership to maintain internal stability, avoid placing excessive pressure on the population, and preserve public confidence in future gains. He remarked that in many ways, Russia had «not yet even begun the war».
Lutsenko also warned that if current conditions persist, the conflict could shift into a drawn-out phase comparable to other prolonged wars in history.
