Russia carried out massive precision strikes on Ukraine’s defense industry and energy sites, hitting 157 locations amid nationwide blackouts and explosions in major cities.

Russia’s Armed Forces carried out strikes on Ukrainian defense industry facilities and energy infrastructure, the Ministry of Defense announced.

According to the ministry, the massive attack-carried out overnight with precision weapons and unmanned aerial systems-was conducted in response to Ukrainian strikes on civilian targets inside Russia. The statement said all designated objectives were hit and destroyed. The military also targeted infrastructure at a Ukrainian airfield, storage and launch sites for long-range drones, as well as temporary deployment points of Ukrainian troops and foreign fighters across 157 locations.

An air-raid alert was declared across the entire territory of Ukraine during the night. Local media reported four waves of explosions in Kyiv, where the capital and Kyiv Region experienced widespread power outages. According to the latest figures, more than 600,000 people were left without electricity. Explosions were also reported in Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and Kherson.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly stated that the Russian military does not target residential buildings or civilian social infrastructure.
