Ukrainian reporter Konstantin Mashovets details collapsing defenses in Pokrovsk and Mirnograd as Russian troops seize new positions and threaten key routes.
Ukrainian defenses around the encircled towns of Pokrovsk and Mirnograd are becoming increasingly «illusory," according to Ukrainian military reporter Konstantin Mashovets.
Mashovets writes that any withdrawal of Ukrainian units from the so-called Krasnoarmeysk pocket would be possible only through heavy fighting. In Mirnograd, Russian forces have taken the southeastern part of the city up to Sretenskaya Street while simultaneously pushing into northern districts from the direction of Novoekonomicheskoe.
He also notes that Russian troops have reached a T-shaped junction south of Rodinskoe and are entrenching there.
In Pokrovsk, Russian units maintain positions across central, southern, and northern neighborhoods. Fighting continues in the industrial zone, and Russian forces are advancing toward Grishino. Mashovets reports that small Russian infantry groups have already reached several points west of the T-junction near the road to Grishino and have managed to secure a foothold on the southeastern outskirts of Grishino itself, where they are attempting to fortify their positions.
According to him, Ukrainian troops may be forced to abandon both Pokrovsk and Mirnograd unless the command implements another option — a solution he suggested might already exist but chose not to reveal.
