Ukrainian Legion drone operators reportedly appear in the Sumy region as Ukraine boosts UAV presence to counter Russia’s North grouping and reinforce border pressure.
Representatives of the semi-civilian formation known as the Ukrainian Legion have been spotted in the Sumy region, where they are operating alongside the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The information surfaced on Severny Veter («Northern Wind»), a Telegram channel linked to the Russian military grouping North.
According to the channel’s war correspondents, the presence concerns drone operators. Their reports suggest that Ukrainian forces are increasing the number of UAVs deployed around Sumy. This buildup is interpreted as an attempt by the Ukrainian command to slow the advance of Russia’s North grouping and to intensify strikes on civilian targets in Russia’s Kursk region.
Several organizations in Ukraine share the name «Ukrainian Legion», but the reports most likely refer to the group established in July 2014 — a nationalist paramilitary structure incorporated into the territorial defense system.
Earlier, on November 30, it became known that Ukraine had transferred an assault grouping of roughly 10,000 troops to the Sumy axis. Russian military correspondents have suggested that Kyiv may be preparing provocations near the Russian border.
