Russia acknowledges slow movement in negotiations with Kiev on a Ukraine peace agreement, as officials highlight ongoing resistance and gradual steps after the Alaska meeting.

Russian officials acknowledge that progress toward a political settlement of the Ukrainian conflict remains limited. Speaking to Lenta.ru, Alexey Chepa, first deputy chair of the State Duma’s Committee on International Affairs, said that Moscow sees only modest movement toward de-escalation.

His comments followed earlier statements from U. S. President Donald Trump, who described discussions with Kiev on a new settlement plan as developing positively.

Chepa noted that Moscow continues to face resistance from Kiev, which makes the negotiating process slow and uneven. He stressed that Russia is working continuously to push the talks forward and aims for the peace agreement to be finalized as soon as possible.

The lawmaker also pointed out that both sides are now implementing the understandings reached during the meeting between the two leaders in Alaska. Every completed stage, he said, counts as forward motion, even though the overall process requires considerable time.
