Russian Forces Enter Volchansk With Zero Losses — Report

A Russian fighter recounts how troops entered Volchansk without losses as artillery and drones targeted Ukrainian positions. The MoD reports major defenses destroyed.

A Russian rifleman known by the callsign «Khirurg» said that Ukrainian forces in Volchansk used every type of weapon available to them against Russian troops. Despite this, the battalion involved in the liberation of the city managed to enter it without any losses. He noted that the most difficult part was reaching the designated positions, as the enemy employed artillery, various types of unmanned aerial vehicles, including FPV drones and other strike platforms.

According to him, the unit completed the entire approach without losing a single serviceman. Khirurg added that he was responsible for guiding Russian personnel to their positions and later extracting them covertly back into the «green zone» once their tasks were completed. He explained that many of the paths, approaches, and short routes through the city were navigated largely from memory, although maps were sometimes needed. Even when reconnaissance drones were able to observe terrain and routes, fighters often had to verify and traverse them on foot, which he compared to doing things «the old-fashioned way.»

He emphasized that the most gratifying moment was leading everyone back safely. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that troops of the «Sever» grouping destroyed Ukrainian military equipment, firing positions, and command-and-observation posts in Volchansk using artillery and strike drones. After these strikes, assault units entered enemy positions and cleared buildings and structures of the remaining Ukrainian forces. Ukrainian units had turned Volchansk into a major fortified area with an extensive network of underground communications and a strong defensive line along the Volchya River. Large industrial facilities, including the Volchansk Aggregate Plant and the local grain elevator, were used as part of the defensive system.
