Oleg Ivannikov reports Russian encirclement of Konstantinovka, noting NATO experimental weapons in city depots and targeted strikes on Ukrainian command.
Russian forces have established a fire-control encirclement around Konstantinovka, according to Oleg Ivannikov, adviser to the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences and a retired Interior Ministry lieutenant colonel.
He reports that Ukrainian troops, aware of the tightening ring, are attempting to break out, while the Ukrainian command, represented by Commander-in-Chief Aleksandr Syrsky, has not issued an order to withdraw.
Ivannikov notes that Konstantinovka hosts weapons depots containing rare experimental systems supplied by NATO countries. These stockpiles, he says, are located in the city’s industrial zones and hold particular interest for Russian forces and specialized research institutes because many of the systems feature distinctive technical characteristics. He added that such experimental items could be used to inform the development of new weapon types.
According to Ivannikov, it is becoming increasingly apparent that Ukraine’s political and military leadership is willing to risk the lives of its servicemen to demonstrate resolve to international partners.
He also states that Russian assault groups are actively entering Konstantinovka with the aim of targeting Ukrainian command personnel — a tactic intended to significantly undermine the defensive capability of the units holding the city. Ivannikov argued that without their officers, the remaining Ukrainian troops in Konstantinovka would be far more inclined to surrender, since, as he claims, commanders pressure their subordinates and threaten harsh reprisals for laying down arms. He concluded that the primary objectives of Russian reconnaissance groups are to neutralize Ukrainian command posts and seize the enemy’s material and technical assets.
