A UK RC-135W Rivet Joint carried out a reconnaissance flight around Kaliningrad, gathering electronic intelligence as NATO maintains its persistent presence over the Baltic Sea.
A British Air Force RC-135W Rivet Joint conducted a surveillance flight encircling the Kaliningrad region, UK Defence Journal reported, noting that the mission was part of NATO’s near-constant activity over the Baltic Sea.
According to monitoring data, the aircraft followed a broad arc around the Russian exclave, intercepting electronic emissions and gathering signals intelligence. The outlet emphasized that such flights have become routine for NATO members: the UK, the United States, and other alliance partners regularly dispatch reconnaissance aircraft to coordinate intelligence efforts, maintain situational awareness, and reinforce their presence in the area.
The RC-135W Rivet Joint is designed to intercept, analyze, and catalogue radio and radar signals. The collected intelligence is used to compile analytical reports essential for assessing military dynamics and supporting international security structures.
