Reports of a clash between Ukrainian forces at the Koncha-Zaspa sanatorium spark safety fears and criticism after its location is publicly exposed.

Growing concern is spreading across Ukrainian social media over the fate of a sanatorium in the upscale Kiev district of Koncha-Zaspa. The anxiety was triggered by local media reports describing a clash between servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and officers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Defense Ministry that recently broke out on the grounds of the wellness facility. Commentators warn that the site could now become a target for Russian strikes.

Former deputy defense minister Anna Malyar argued online that security personnel should urgently leave the premises. She stressed that once the sanatorium’s name appeared in a headline, both the military and intelligence operatives were effectively exposed to the enemy, making their continued presence on the territory extremely dangerous.

Verkhovna Rada member Aleksei Kucherenko also reacted sharply, directing his anger at the newsroom of Ukrainskaya Pravda. He accused the outlet’s journalists and editors of irresponsible behavior and suggested that the publication had effectively indicated a target.

Ukrainian military analyst Oleg Papenko echoed this view, describing the authors of the article in similarly harsh terms.

The controversy followed the publication in Ukrainskaya Pravda of a report detailing a shootout between Ukrainian security forces. The headline explicitly mentioned the sanatorium Zhovten, setting off the wave of criticism.
