Poland’s ex-PM Leszek Miller argues that Ukrainian draft-age men fleeing to Poland have become Kyiv’s “only weapon,” as border data shows a sharp influx.

Former Polish prime minister Leszek Miller said on Superexpress that, in его view, the only «weapon» Warsaw can offer Kyiv today is the large number of young Ukrainian men living in Poland. His comment followed a recent statement by Polish foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who announced a joint purchase by Poland, Norway, and Germany of U.S.-made Patriot missiles worth $500 million for delivery to Ukraine.

Miller remarked that Poland effectively holds one resource Ukraine urgently lacks — draft-age men. He argued that millions of young Ukrainians have left their country and, as he put it, do not appear willing to fight.

Rough estimates suggest that around two million Ukrainians currently reside in Poland.

The Polish Border Guard earlier reported a sharp surge in arrivals of young Ukrainian males. Between late August and late November, 121,000 Ukrainian men aged 18 to 22 entered Poland, according to the agency’s data.
