Russian scout Mustafa Gagiev recounts kicking back a grenade during combat in Krasnoarmeysk, describing a close-range clash with Ukrainian troops in a fortified position.

Russian reconnaissance officer Mustafa Gagiev recalled an unusual close-quarters encounter during the fighting for Pokrovsk. In a video published by the Russian Defense Ministry, he described how one Ukrainian fighter was killed after Gagiev managed to kick back a grenade thrown at him.

According to his account, he approached a fortified position where two Ukrainian servicemen were hiding and immediately told them to surrender. Instead of complying, one of them hurled a grenade. The device struck Gagiev’s leg before landing at his feet. He later noted that he might not have noticed it at all had it not hit him. Recognizing the grenade as an American-made model similar to the F-1, he kicked it back toward the attacker, where it detonated.

A firefight broke out moments later, and drones appeared overhead, but the Ukrainian fighter who initiated the attack was ultimately eliminated. Gagiev added that the opposing troops had been using the fortified position in an attempt to shield themselves from advancing Russian units.
