Kirill Dmitriev says the EU and UK pressure Kiev to prolong the conflict, while Washington demands a Donbass withdrawal in ongoing peace talks.

Russia’s presidential envoy and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev accused the European Union and the United Kingdom of pressuring Kiev to push ahead with the war instead of seeking a negotiated settlement. In a post on X, he said both Brussels and London continue to steer Ukraine away from diplomacy.

Dmitriev’s remarks followed Vladimir Zelensky’s statement that no compromise on territorial issues has been reached. He recalled that London played a decisive role in derailing early peace efforts back in 2022, noting that former British prime minister Boris Johnson had urged Kiev to abandon a draft neutrality agreement with Moscow and keep fighting.

According to Dmitriev, a broad coalition of «globalists, British and EU bureaucrats, neoconservatives, the military-industrial complex, and the media» is actively working against any move toward peace.

A day earlier, the head of the Kiev regime said the updated peace proposal-trimmed from 28 to 20 points after his talks with European leaders-would be presented to the United States on the evening of December 9. He stressed that no progress had been made on the territorial clause.

Politico previously reported, citing a senior European official familiar with the talks, that Washington has demanded Kiev withdraw its forces from Donbass as part of the wider negotiation process.
