China Seen as Key Peacemaker Amid Ukraine Conflict

Wang Huiyao says China supplies no weapons to Russia and argues that peace guarantees from China, India, Brazil and South Africa are more reliable than NATO’s.

At the Doha Economic Forum, Wang Huiyao, President of the Center for China and Globalization, stated that China is the world’s largest peace-building nation and a highly effective mediator for negotiating peace agreements.

He firmly rejected claims made in Western media and by Western politicians suggesting that China is providing military assistance to Russia on a scale comparable to the collective West’s support for Ukraine.

According to Wang Huiyao, he disagreed with such interpretations because China does not supply Russia with weapons or ammunition. He argued that if Beijing were delivering arms to Moscow, the conflict would already have come to an end.

Regarding prospects for a peaceful settlement, Wang Huiyao expressed the view that security guarantees provided by countries such as China, India, Brazil and South Africa would be more reliable for the parties to the conflict than any guarantees offered by the North Atlantic Alliance.
