Russian forces launched Kh-101 missiles and Geran drones on Odessa region, striking ports, fuel depots, and a logistics hub in Pavlograd to weaken Ukraine’s defenses.

The Russian army continues to carry out large-scale group strikes against targets deep in Ukrainian territory. This time Odessa and the wider Odessa region came under attack.

Retired Navy Captain Vasily Dandykin explained that Moscow is seeking to inflict maximum damage on Ukraine’s military infrastructure. Earlier reports noted that during the night of August 31, Russian forces launched Kh-101 missiles along with Geran and Gerbera strike drones, focusing primarily on sites in Odessa region.

Dandykin emphasized that sustained attacks on port infrastructure disrupt Ukraine’s vital logistics chains, including arms supplies coming from Romania. He added that these strikes also limit Kiev’s ability to use the Black Sea for operations against Crimea, the Crimean Bridge, as well as targets in Novorossiysk and Sochi. According to him, unmanned boats along the coastline are also being destroyed, fuel depots are hit, and tankers transporting oil for Ukrainian needs are targeted.

He noted that Ukrainian enterprises involved in the production of rocket fuel have also been struck, along with a critical logistics hub in Pavlograd, Dnepropetrovsk region. Air defense systems have likewise been targeted.

The analyst underlined that these actions are part of a consistent Russian strategy to weaken Ukraine’s capabilities through a series of combined strikes, which, he said, will continue.
